kssoaper
Wondering if anyone can help me with quilting to the edge of my quilt....I attached my 'grabber' piece of fabric to make enough for my hoop to grab (does that make sense?) But when I quilt to the edge I'm quilting into the grabber piece of fabric and am having to leave pieces of it when I remove the grabber piece......hopefully this makes sense I don't have a border attached yet....I guess it's too late now since I've quilted to the edge on two out of four sides..............have I wrecked it????TIA,Judy
Kitn
I don't think you have wrecked it. I usually hand sew the border on.Would the border hide the "grabber" fabric? Are you hand sewing or by machine?
kssoaper
I actually stuck my grabber fabric in between the layers - so it's hidden....but there will definitely be 'chunks' of it left where I quilted into it....hand quilting........ SliverOfWax
I don't use a hoop. Have you tried quilting to the edge without your hoop?I don't think those chunks will matter. Isn't it just a single layer of 'junk' fabric? You'll cut off the piece of grabber when you're ready to attach your binding. Am I picturing this correctly? I wouldn't worry about little pieces of fabric unless it was bulky.
kssoaper
I was mainly wondering if there was a way around leaving behind the pieces of the grabber fabric....can't see it, it may be a little bulky whereI leave it, but oh well..........thanks for all the help! SliverOfWax
Since it will be bulky where you attach the binding, I can't imagine it would matter. I like a bulky binding, anyway, so it wouldn't bother me. Nobody but us will ever know, lol.
