CatlinPM
Does anyone know if the 12oz status jar that genwax carries is the same as the 12oz status jar from the jar store? Genwax lists the diameter of their jar as 2.75", and the jar store lists the diameter of their jar as 3" but the heights and wax fill are exactly the same. The genwax jars are cheaper then the jar store jars that I currently use, plus the last time I checked jar store was out of stock and I need to reorder. I would call genwax but they are closed until Tuesday. If anybody has an answer I would be grateful! Thanks,
ChrisR
If they don't say Libbey Status Jars, they aren't the same. Similar, but not Libbeys!
CaftCandles
The 8 oz Status Jar has a 2.75" diameter and the 15.5 oz Jar has a 3" diameter. It looks like they got them confused. Their description points to the diameter or width being a typo, the other information matches that of a 12.5 oz Status Jar. I wish they carried the 8 oz and 21 oz Jars also. Stella1952
As ChrisR said, if it doesn't say Libbey, it isn't an authentic status jar. Metro jars, for example, are a Libbey knock off with the same dimensions.
EricofAZ
I don't know about Libby, but I use the genwax status jars and they are well made, thick glass, heavy, solid bottom, good top and affordable. I'm happy to use them. I don't think a jar has to be libbey to be a status unless libbey copyrighted the name. After buying several cases of these from Genwax, I just can't see myself using others due to price.
Stella1952
Status Jars are an original Libbey Design, just like Whisper Jars, Interlude, Lucida, Vibe, etc. All of those are copyrighted (and probably trademarked) Libby designs.http://b2b.libbey.com/The Libby Business to Business Cataloghttp://b2b.libbey.com/catalogs/b2b/catalog.htmlI doubt that the ones GenWax carries are genuine Libbey glass. Other distributors and wholesalers list them as 12 per case. Libbey packages them 12 per case. Genwax packs 24 to their case. If they are "seconds," of course, they might be packaged differently, but they would still be labeled as Libbey jars. Generally if a supplier is selling Libbey Glass, they WANT to advertise the name as it is American made glass and meets ASTM standards for candle glass.http://b2b.libbey.com/About-B2B/Markets-Served/Candle-FillersIf it doesn't SAY Libbey, it probably isn't. Beware of knock offs.PS Anchor makes a Status jar look-alike called the Elite. You can view/download their catalog below:http://www.anchorhocking.com/b2b_catalogs.html Edited December 5, 2011 by Stella1952
