How many lbs?

Recommended Posts

I have searched in the forums and can't find an answer so hopefully someone can help me out. Approximately how many candles would one get out of a 10lb block of wax if you were to make a 3" x 4.5" round candle (like from this mold) http://www.peakcandle.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=PCMS&Product_Code=ALM-RND345CONCAVE&Category_Code=ALM? I'm having trouble figuring out how much wax to order so I'm hoping one of you all might have some idea of a way to figure it out :) Thanks :)

That's going to be too small for a hurricane shell. You'll need at least 4" across, but preferably 5". With a smaller shell, like 4", you'll be limited to usinf only tealights and burning for very short periods. The problem is that the heat from the flame is closer to the shell itself so it's much more likely to melt. You'll also need a higher MP wax, usually 160+. HTH
