2 part plastic taper molds?

Recommended Posts

Does anyone use the 2 part plastic taper molds? Do they leave a large seam on the candle? I have a tin taper mold and I'm trying it for the first time (only poured two candles) and I can see that it has one seam. What's the best way to remove seams for any type of wax?

Here's a page of the type of molds I'm asking about (no style in particular):

I use these from Mann Lake in 8", 10" and 12" LOVE THEM!! http://www.mannlakeltd.com/ProductDetail.asp?idproduct=1356&idCategory=

You really need one of these wicking needles also. http://www.betterbee.com/products.asp?dept=851

I spray the mold good with a silicone mold release cause even my beeswax can get stuck occasionally. :cool2:

best way to remove seam is back of a butter knife at a right angle to the seam and keep trimming till you're against the candle. Try not to stop as you shave and then buff.

Silicone molds have made many things easier. Plastic molds used to be the rage I imagine. At least I thought so, because I own too many of them lol.
