Soja
I've been having trouble getting just the right 'rustic' look. I've been asking around and here is the latest....1343 poured cold with freezia scent and mineral oil for mottle.Any comments? Soja
Scented
Question. Why are you using a mottling oil and FO together? Secondly, if you're pouring for rustic, how much steric did you use?
wookie130
I know that I'm not being any help, and this does nothing to answer your question, but I really like your pillars. I think they look lovely!
Soja
Scented....No steric and oil plus F.O. I thought for mottling. Is that too much? I did, however, figure out the rustic end of it as seen in the attached pics. The crackle, I just did to see if I could do it. The crackle doesn't show up too much though.Wookie... Thanks for the compliment.Soja
Fern
Soja: You really don't need mineral oil when using fo for mottling...the fo will create the mottling for you. You need to pour hot and cool slow for the mottling to take hold. You can add stearic but only add about 1 tablespoon per lb of wax...if you add too much stearic it can reduce or eliminate the mottling effect. From your picture, it looks as though your on the verge of having a rustic although one layer looks as though it mottled some. Try pouring at about 185-190 and let slow cool. Use about 1-1.5 oz of fo pp lb of wax and leave out the mineral oil. Your rustics and crackled chunk candles came out great...now you just need a little more practice on the mottles....you'll get them in no time. Good luck!
