Speckles in my soap

Hi all,

Question for any of you - have you experienced this??

The weather is getting colder here with winter coming and I soap RTCP. Anyway......I'm just lately noticed speckles in my latest newly made bars of soap. Almost looks like DOS - BUT, I know it's not because these are newly made. I have only gotten DOS once & know what it looks like, I superfate at 5%.

So....I'm thinking this is a result of soaping at too cool a temp and the FO not incorporating good enough. What do you all think?? Has anyone ever had this happen. On these batches my oil has been cool/coldish and I add my GM ice cubes to the already made up water/lye mixture.

If it's Goat Milk you are using the speckles could be from that. I'm assuming they are an orangey (is that a word?) color since you said they look like DOS, sometimes milk will do this, little tiny orangey spots. I've only soaped GM a couple of times, so I'm no expert, but thats what it sounds like. HTH

i Always soap with goats milk. For most of my bars I do a 50/50 goat milk & spring water mix - but do not usually have this reaction with them.

I use fresh goat milk from my brother's goat farm for my soaps and when freezing it the milk fat tends to float to the top. What you are probably seeing is speckles of milk fat, which is what I get on occasion, depending on coloring, etc.
