Combining Waxes

Hi everyone!

It's been a while since I've been here. Lots of life struggles unfortunately. However, the weather is turning cooler & my thoughts are turning to tart/candlemaking once again :smiley2:

Last year around this time I started making tarts with soy wax. However, recently I purchased some tarts & it was indicated they had been made with a combination of soy & paraffin wax. I did not know that you could combine waxes. Does anyone know what the ratio might be & why you'd want to combine in the first place?

The main reason is to get the best of both world. The incredible throw of paraffin with cleanness of soy.

My blend is a combo of container paraffin and pillar soy. The majority of my blend is soy. I do not recommend that you make your own blend at this point but buy a preblended wax. Creating your own blend takes a lot of time and energy.

There are a lot of parasoy blends on the market that are great and the guess work is taken out of the equation for you.

Vicky ...

Thanks so much for the information! I don't mind buying a good parasoy blend & giving that a try ... could you recommend one or more? I am, however, wondering what to do with the 5 pound bag of 100% soy I have now. Any ideas?
