The one I am currently using is very dry as well as contains parabens and I need something different. Oh, and it seems every single FO you use in it makes it turn to a water consistency. I use their Suspension Shower Gel and so far none of the fo's I use thins it out. I don't know about the paraben free one. Sometimes more, sometimes less but it seems to be the nature of the beast.I seem to recall threads on thickening liquid bases though. You might want to search for those.
