donna4909
I have a pretty high MP votive wax, and the 44Z wicks aren't cutting it. The votive doesn't completely melt, and it leaves a shell around the sides. It basically looks like a hurricane.Should I go up to a 51 wick? Seems quite large for a votive, but I don't know what else to do...
pdevine
Good grief Charlie Brown,,,,LOL What type of wax are you using? I wouldn't dare use a wax for votives that required you to go up to a 51z wick, but that's just my opinion. Portia
donna4909
I think it's from bittercreek. The MP is 152 degrees, and it's listed as a pillar/votive blend. Maybe I could mix it with a container wax, and use it that way?
candleessence
I have made votives from a high mp wax & yes, had to with certain FO's use a 51z. Just make sure you test it all the way to the end to make sure that the 51 does not flash point your FO when the votive hits bare bones

candleessence
Its a good question....when I answer on this board I always like to assume that someone might sell these candles. Most customers will burn these votive until there is NOTHING left in the bottom and will be burning them in a tight fighting holder. A 51z could heat up a lower flash point FO too much under those circumstances and result in a flare up. I admit it would be unusual, being a high mp wax & a lower heat wick, but better safe then sorry, and will aslo willingly admit to being very anal when testing candles
SatinDucky
Testing is always good. I'd just never heard this before. Then again, I've never heard of using a 51z in a votive either. Info to file away...
