darci
curious... has anyone here ever used dry milk in their soap?
Kitn
Do you mean using the powder and not reconstituting it ?I have not tried that. I use reconstituted powdered milk in every soap batch I make tho.
darci
so, then, do you reconstitute it and then use it the same way others would goats milk? (milk)ice cubes, or whatever...
Barbara AL
I put the powder directly in my oils and mix it up just right before I add my lye water.Barb

Barbara AL
BillieI have been experimenting with Heavy Whipping cream lately adding 1 ounce of Whipping Cream to 1 pound of oils I add it at trace. I am loving the feel of the Cream.Barbara AL
darci
whipping cream? VERRRRY interesting. you put 'milk fat' into your soap calc?
Barbara AL
Darci,I don't put it into the soapcalc just like I do my goatmilk soaps I just deduct it from the water amount. When doing the Heavy Whipping cream I keep my superfat lower like 4-5%.Barb
Meridith
When working with powder milks and not liquid, I make a slurry with some of my liquid and the powders that I then incorporate into the soap mix after I've added my lye. I make the slurry to make sure I get all the lumps mixed in. If you don't get the lumps mixed in, it will look like brown spots in your soap. Kitn
I add the milk powder to 1/2 my lye water, stick blend it well, add the rest of the water amount in ice and add the lye.

I let the powder sit in the liquid a while to soften those lumps.
Phyra02
I do the slurry method also and then blend into the oils.
