Sinking Middle On Lotion Bars

Recommended Posts

Just made my first lotion bars in little 1 oz. push up tubes and now that they are cooling they are sinking/cracking a bit in the center. How do I avoid this? It's just a basic recipe: 2 oz. beeswax, 1 oz. shea butter, 1 oz. mango butter, 2 oz. sao. Can someone please help me?

Thank you

Karen

You can't really avoid it. It's the nature of the beast.

You can, however, compensate for it by either doing a second pour to level it or giving the tops a blast with a heat gun to remelt and level them out.

When I do lip balms, I do the second pour. It allows me to get a nice domed top effect.

Thanks all...I did a slight repour and it worked great...unfortunately...I hate the push up tubes! You have to keep your finger on the bottom just so the bar doesn't slide back down or out. Not sure if customers will or want to figure this out. Grrr..I'm frustrated. Wouldn't it be nice if things for once worked out the way they're suppose to!!
