Dumb Question

Ok this may be pretty stupaid but i want to make sure. This is my first time to do the fruit pies and a little confused on the crusts. Theres the pie crust and then theres a full crust. My question is do you use them both or one or the other? I figured the lattice crust type would be for fruit pies and the full bottom crusts for like open cream pies, am i right? Lin
