moon01945
Hi, I found this recipe on line for cucumber soap. I was wondering if anyone had made soap with pureed cukes and how was it. I like the sounds of this but where there is mashed up cukes I am wondering if I should add a preservative to be save. Thanks for your comments! "Slice of Summer" (Cucumber Soap)/©Camille Pratt15 ounces Canola Oil30 ounces Coconut Oil27 ounces Olive Oil21 ounces Palm Oil5 ounces Shea Butter13.75 ounces of lye20 ounces of rain water16 ounces of pureed cucumber (peels 'n all!)Mix lye and water. Cool to 90°.Pureed cukes (this will be approx. 2-3 large cukes).Heat oils to 90°.Mix lye solution and oils, blend well, add pureed cukes.Bring to light trace, add fragrance of your choice (I used SweetcakesEconocuke - at a 1% usage rate).Bring to heavy trace.Pour in mold.Leave it alone. Notes: Even in very hard water it has lots of lather, very creamy and is verysoothing to skin. Uncolored, it is a very lovely pale ivory, slightlytranslucent. No GSE (Grapefruit Seed Extract) needed. If you chose to modifythis recipe by subbing other oils or butters, it will not be remotely the sameunbelievably wonderful soap.~~~~~~~*~~~~*~~~*~~*~*~*~~*~~~*~~~~*~~~~~~~Wild Iris Botanicals Soaps & Sundries'SweetPeas TM' Baby Line'Bath Confections TM' Luxury Bathing Line
tlc26
I can vouch for this recipe. I did it with cucumber from my friends garden. I didn't use rain water though and I calculated the recipe to be a 3lb batch. made a great soap, next time I will de-seed my cuc puree.....oh and I left the cuc peel out as well. Xraytech70
I've HEARD it makes a great bar of soap--have seen this recipe in many blogs and sites on the internet. I REALLY want to try it. I've heard the color is quite nice.
