mrsposey
After making tarts for the past 18 months, I'm finally comfortable enough to start making candles. I poured my first one a couple of days ago and was very pleased with the way it turned out. I used 6006 with 6% fo. It looked great!!! Today I did my test burn and it only took me 10 minutes to discover I did something very wrong! I used ECO 14 for my wick. But, now that I think about it when I bought those wicks I was planning on using a larger container. So, I went to a site that had a wick guide and it said for my container (pint size regular mouth mason jar) I should use ECO 2 but they're only available in a 3" length? Is this correct? When I lit the candle the flame was too big, it was throwing black soot and the candle had a petroleum smell. Where do I go from here? Maybe just stick with melts! lolNancy
Stella1952
Here's the wick recommendation page from WickIt.http://www.wickit.net/recommendations.html#ecoLooking at the range of sizes, it looks like sizes 6-8 would be a better bet.
