TheWickedWick
Do you need to use Vanilla Stabilizer or Neutralizer in oil based sugar scrubs?ThanksKaren
fairylite
Browning is going to occur due to the vanilla content in the fragrance oil, and not due to the product form. That said, vanilla stabilizer is water-soluble only, so you're not going to be able to use it in an oil-based scrub.
TheWickedWick
fairylite...what would you use to prevent browning? I use a small amount of coloring in my sugar scrubs and I don't want them turning a yucky color. Thanks
bugtussle
We need to do some more research on this one. I use vanilla browning neutralizer (wsp) in my scrubs and frostings. It works fine. The frostings contain water, the scrubs do not. I use vanilla stabilizer (bcn) in my cp soap. My scrubs and frostings will definitely discolor without the neutralizer. Fairylite, I'm not sure that VS cannot be used in scrubs. Someone chime in. Carole
TheWickedWick
I contacted Debbie at WSP regarding the use of their Vanilla Browning Neutralizer in my oil based scrubs and she reported it would work with no problems. I use their Vanilla Stabilizer in my m&p with great success and the neutralizer in lotions, gels, etc with no problems either. That's a relief..I had this horror of yucky brown scrubs!Karen
bugtussle
Good for you, Karen. That was what I understood. Now we all know. Carole
ScentedLuxuries
I don't use a vanilla stabilizer in my sugar scrub. So far browning hasn't been a problem (yet)
TheWickedWick
You know..I did an oatmeal honey almond sugar scrub which was labeled as having vanilla about a month ago and I've been watching it and no browning has occured. Do you think it would have by now or do some take many months to occur depending on vanilla percentage?
Loulougirl
I can't say for sure, but when I've had things discolor.. soaps, bubble bars, etc.. they did within a day or two.
