ldoebler
I made some 8 oz soy candles using CB Advanced Soy. Only on some of the candles is a crack around the wick in a circle. What causes this? I am melting at 175 and pouring at 150.
soy327
Is it a circle out around the top of the wax or right next to the wick it self? The reason I am asking is that I'm getting the same thing cracking in a circular pattern about 3/4" to 1/2 out from the wick and all the way around inside the jar. 12 oz status (or some call them metro jars).:rolleyes2Never had this before and I'm heating and pouring at the same temp roughly. It also happened to the coconut wax I've been testing. so I tried pouring into a warm jar and putting in a warm oven to cool (Oven heated up and turned off 1st). I've been told maybe they are cooling to fast. If you figure it out let me know. I will do the same but I have tried everything from covering with a box or plastic tub on a rack, turning up the heater in my room where I make them. etc oven cooling.:confused:Linda
Circle
It could be the pouring temp too. It happens even when the weather is warm, try pouring at 140 and 145. You always need to adjust pouring temp when the surrounding temp is different.
soy327
I have tried pouring at 145 and as low as 125 never had this problem before. But going into winter here in Colorado it's a problem. I'll try to find a pic and upload.Linda Edited November 21, 2009 by soy327
