classylady71118
Is it only me or does this happen to other's when using dye blocks??? The dye doesn't completely melt and leaves dye specks thru out my container candles even though I stir the heck out of it and it's plenty hot enough???? Any idea's to avoid to avoid this? Thanks,Beverly
lindanelson
Hi Beverly...I switched to liquid candle dye last year. What a difference. I did make one pillar this year and used dye chips...now I know why I quit using them.Good luck.
Scented
Yes, happens to me mostly with reds. Some chips are guilty of this too. You can melt the block (or a portion of it) over direct heat and then filter it before adding to the wax. It's an extra step, but typically gets rid of what won't melt. classylady71118
I too have switched to liquid because of this but unfortunately the cranberry liquid dye I bought wasn't cranberry but more a violet color?? I've purchased the same color in a dye block and a liquid from a guy I've been buying from on ebay, but ened up with 2 different colors??? In any case I'll next try to mix my own liquid. Thanks for the replies!Beverly
Sharon in KY
I use soy and put a little 2-3 oz of wax in a cup and heat in the micro with the color in, 1 min. is usually enough. The hotter wax will dissolve the block or chips. after a is melted and mixed I add to my batch.
