stuipd question alert

I bought some bottles advertised at 4 ounce bottles. I took 3 oz of base and 1 oz oil and mixed then poured it into the bottle and had a lot left over. Come to find out the base is less dense and fills a larger volume. I switched my method.

First, grab a scale, put the empty bottle on it, tare the weight, fill it to the level you want with just the diffuser base and see exactly how much fluid the bottle holds by weight.

Then take that weight and multipy it by .3. In the case of a 7oz bottle it would be 2.1 ~ that's the amount of fragrance. So 7 minus 2.1 FO equals 4.9 which would be the base.

So your calculations are pretty close. Just make sure you know how much your bottle holds before you start pouring into it!

Nope - this isn't a stupid question. Wish I would have asked it before I poured my first bottle....
