jchernyb
Ok, I started using HTP wicks because I didnt like the mushrooming anymore of the zinc. Now, when testing the HTP83, I am getting almost a full MP to the side where the wick is bending or curling. The other side still has 1/2 inch left. What do you do? Do you blow out the candle, bend it back straight again so the other side will have a full MP, or just leave it and hope that the other side catches up....woo is me! Kaybee23
HTP wicks are made to bend on the end. Most of the time it will eventually catch up, if it is wicked right.
latch
yes they do catch up and burn evenly if wicked right.. i remember when i first starting using htps it was hard to get used to. but i really love em almost no trimming and almost no shrooms. geekrunner
What I do with HTPs is to look on the wick, and you will see a V-shape in the wick. One side of the wick, the V points down, and on the other side, it points up. The wick will curl to the side where the V points up. You can slightly offset the wick in the opposite direction so the flame will be centered. It takes some practice, but when you get the right wick for the particular wax/FO/jar combo, you almost never have to trim it!
jchernyb
Thank you Geek for the help! I cant wait to try it and see if it works! I would have never thought of looking at the wick for a V. Thanks again!
Grumpy Girl
Thanks Geek! I was wondering about those V's just the other day. I'm going to give this a try tonight with my next batch.
