Wick'n'Wax
I have a silicone loaf mold that gives the flared shape to the bottom of the slices.I'm looking for one that is about 8cm square but a loaf rather than a slab mold. What do other M&P'ers use?I'm in the UK, so obviously our supplies are different over here. victoriaj
Hi Yvette, have you got a home bargins near you, they have silicone loaf moulds in for only £1.99 each, and slab and muffin moulds too. I got some plastic loaf moulds from dennycraftmoulds but there such a pita to get the loaf out.
Wick'n'Wax
nope, not heard of that shop. Are the loaf molds the flared ones?
victoriaj
There very slightly flared but not as much as some. There the loaf moulds with the waves bottoms.
Alajane
victoriaj, I think what you're describing is what I bought recently and made my first soap using them this weekend--I just love them! It does have a flare, but produces a very nicely shaped soap and, although I had some misgivings about the wavy design in the bottom, I really like the finished product.I used 40 oz of soap per mold and got bars just the size I wanted.By the way, we don't have Home Bargains stores here, either--I got mine at Fred's Dollar Store and they were $3.99 each, but well worth it. I just love the ease of using silicone and wish all the molds I have were made from it.Jane
SherriLynn
I use rubbermaid cheese keepers... Makes a great 3 lb loaf.. perfect for cutting into 9 bars, plus a little off each end left to make an assortment of "end of the row" soaps.... hawaiiansun
I use a plastic drawer, I line it, then just cut off the uneven side.
