southern.scents
Well, I decided I would do my first rebatch today. I was just going to use the trimmings and shavings from all of my previous batches. Well, I decided to go with the double boiler method and everything went well until it came to the coloring part. I COULD not get the soap to take an color. Is this typical with rebatching???
eugenia
Not in my experience. Could be the colorants perhaps?e
Darbla
If you haven't checked it out already, there's a rebatching tutorial here that might give you some ideas:http://www.craftserver.com/forums/showthread.php?t=69598
southern.scents
Well, I dont think that it is the colorants. I am using micas. I have tried twice now and they both ended up more of a grey color. I am gonna try one more time.
CareBear
micas - they are not necessarily stable. I would try a different colorant type.
southern.scents
Okay. I have a few liquid soap colorants that I will try out. I started out with just liquid colorants but went to micas so I was trying to use them.
jenniejr
Hmmm.... Never had that happen to me before. Were the soap shavings already colored??
CBE
If your trimmings and shavings already have color in them, and your mixing these colors together, you'll either get brown soap, or some other funky looking color soap. (Funky here can mean good or bad, depending on what the soap color really looks like once you're finished...lol) I had rebatched some pink soap one time, added purple to the batch, and it came out grey with pink chunks (chunks done on purposely). Nice looking grey I got though.
