jeniryan
What would cause this? This is my first batch made from 70% C3 and 30% paraffin, 6% FO, no dye. I'm using a tealight burner...
Stella1952
Your tealight burner is too hot. It could also be the specific FO used, but I think its the tealight getting too hot. THose are difficult to control. I prefer the electric warmers to them.
jeniryan
OK, thanks. I figured that's probably what was happening seeing as how I am pretty sure everything else is right on. Just wanted confirmation.
OverSoyed
I never cared for tea light burners.... they tend to crack and splinter after so long of use... and after all... whats the point of using a tea light to burn a wax melt... cuz out the middle man and use a votive or something. I never thought of it that way, but I can't defend that! Unless you count my pretty moon/stars motiff.
blazerina
Also check that it's actually 'smoke' and not just 'steam'. There is an errant amount of moisture that can steam off as it heats up.
JudiGa
MINE SMOKE EVERY TIME I USE A CERTAIN WARMER, THE SMALLER COMBO VERSION FROM LEVINE. THAT ONE GETS "REALLY" HOT. THE LARGER ONES WITH THE BIGGER BOWL ARE GREAT, AND OF COURSE THE FO LASTS LONGER
OverSoyed
It came to light big time recently. My mother is on oxygen 24/7, so she isn't supposed to have any open flames in her apartment. She kept say "I'll never get to smell your new candles." But I told her, "we've always got tartlets!"K, that's insanely sane. I never thought of it that way, but I can't defend that! Unless you count my pretty moon/stars motiff.
CareBear
if your tarts are smoking then there is a simple solution: lecture them on morals and get a nicotine patch
