Domain Name

I am really po'd about this one. I have my domain but if you leave off the "a" before my name it was a porno site. Well, the site has been done for about 6 months and so I went ahead and backordered it. Well, they just renewed the domain for another year. The company that has it is one of the clearing house type places where you can buy it off of them. I decided since they renewed the name I would put in an offer to see if I can buy it. I offered 50 and instantly a note came back that the min. bid is 1000. I do not know about you guys but I can not afford 1000 just to keep ppl from going to the wrong site. From what I have read this does not fall under cybersquatting but I really do not think that a bid starting at 1000 is really fair.

I know "the world is not fair" but geez

Yea, sorry to hear that. I had mine for about a year and it expired. I went to get it again and now a company in Panama has it. I don't understand that one! I really feel your pain!

Yup, taken domains are EXPENSIVE...if you want to see some real money, check out some basic names like cars.com or something simple like that on Ebay. Thousands and millions of dollars worth! Unbelieveable, but I guess they can put whatever price they want on it...as long as they "own" it.

I had a name paid for it and then someone else got it.The credit card transaction did not go through but I was told it was available.Then someone else buys it.Now how was it available I buy it and then boom trying to start my website I was blocked.To me this is REAL crooked and dirty.They know they have you over a barrel.There was a company that took the name and is on-line BUT their candles are more costly.I did have a - at first in the name and got .com but really want no confusion with another name the same.Now when I think about a name I get it.I have one for candles and one for bath and body.They will be the same company but I just have the domains if I want to do soaps seperate someday.

All is fair and love, war, and domain names LOL, 1000 bucks is actually CHEAP I'm surprised knowing you wanted it that they didn't come back with a 10 grand minimum bid.

Thats why I would never backorder a domain. If me you him and her all backorder a domain its just a price war waiting to happen. IUnstead I have a trusty expired domain finder. I plug in certain words etc and search for when it is available. I also check experations of .com under 6 characters with no hypens. I am a domain ho we have hundreds. But I would have given it to you chaeper but prairie is right that is cheap on the domain hording side of things.

I had one backordered while it was awaiting deletion. Checked today and it's gone. It was nabbed by some company in Panama too! What, are they taking over?

GEE must be alot of rich people in Panama.I would check and see if you can find out if the same person is buying all.There are times you cannot find out who did get it.I was able to find out but really did not care.For a while it was under another name(domain site)I want to do mine that way so no one knows who has it.Will next time.

Oh by all means I am going to come up with some other names and think about having some on the side I like.I don't want to have a name and it gets taken out from under me.I better keep checking on the ones I have now and make sure I get the same names in 3 years.Yes no more one year domains for me.I purposely let the last one go or I could have got it with .com or .net.
