How much wax?

Recommended Posts

I am really hoping someone can point me in the right direction or help me on this. I know I saw this somewhere but for the life of me I can't find it. I am trying to figure out how much wax will fill a pillar mold without actually having to pour one of each mold. I mainly make votive's and different types of tarts/melts although I have a couple costumers that would like certain pillars. I have the molds but don't want a ton of scented colored pillar wax left over.

Thank-you in advance

or you could pour an unscented, uncolored piller. Unmold & weigh it. Then you can reuse the wax...no loss. My 3x6 mold filled to the rim makes a candle weighing 1.68 lb, my 3x6 fluted candles weigh 1.73 lb. I always make a little extra cause ya never know when a mold might leak and you'll need a little extra for top off. Any left overs can go into votives or tarts.
