Colored Sand

Is there a place to get colored sand? Any one has any suggestions on how to color your own plain sand? The sand I using goes in the bottom of a glass vase before I pour the wax. Can anyone maybe show me a thread on sand? I looked,but couldn't find one.

Michaels has some really good colored sands, that the gel amazingly enough won't steal the color from.

That is some thing you have to be careful with some colored sands, gel will suck the color out of them.

I don't think we have a thread just about sand we have talked about how you need to crimp your wick above the sand.

I have bought sand off of ebay a few times with mixed results.

Making you own I think might be a problem you would have to find the right dyes and I think you would have to bake the color in to the sand.

do you know the effect that rock salt placed between sand in a jar will do? I hoping it won't melt away .

I use rock salt to create snow in my winter scenes. So no it won't melt I treat it just like sand.

Most craft stores carry the colored sand.

I get mine from BCN. The colors DO NOT fade.
