1oz of FO pp of M&P too much?

I was making soap the other day & accidently added an ounce of FO pp of base instead of my usual 1/2 oz (1 TBS). The thing is, DH loved it! He said the scent stuck to his skin much better.

I always though too much FO could be irritating, but since soap is a wash-off product...:undecided

Any of you use more than an oz in 1# of M&P? Did it make your soap too soft? Did it irritate anyone that you know of?

When I first started out using M&P, I would add 1oz PP. And it would irritate me in certain areas...but I have sensitive skin. Something to consider if you plan to sell your soap. Not everyone can tolerate a lot of FO.

I put up to 2-3 tsp FO in 1 lb M&P. 1 oz can be irratating to your skin. First time I made M&P I put too much FO in and my skin broke out with pimples.

I've been using 1/2 oz. pp in M&P soaps.

For most fo's I use about 1 Tablespoon.. very few need more and many can use less. hth

I've used up to an oz pp before and had no problems at all with it. My normal is about 1/2 oz pp like most folks, but some just need more!

You should be ok. I usually use 1/2 oz but on some lighter scents I've gone up to 1 oz/pp

I generally stick to about 1/2 oz per lb also, but have increased the amount on occasion. Never experienced any irritation from it, but I did notice a decrease in the amount of lather.

I do sometimes go a little over an oz if the fo is light, but I made this boo-boo while running my mouth on the phone

I think it is personal preferance. I use a very small amount with my m&p. I use pipettes and put in 1/2 ml at a time. I haven't ever used 1 oz per pound of m&p. If your husband likes it and it doesn't bother him, give him what he likes. :smiley2:

My customers could not handle an ounce per pound. I tried that on my own skin and it was flaming red. I think that it smells great, but I do not want to have to deal with rashes and returns.
