slight dips in the top of my votives..wick pins help?

Recommended Posts

I use wick pins for making votives and I still have to do a second pour. Votives, in my experience anyway, will sink in the middle and require a second pour. I hope that is what you were asking.

I use wick pins, but have also prewicked and I find no difference, except its just easier to work with wick pins.

I also find that if I let the votives cool completely on the first pour, the wax finishes shrinking. Then for the second pour, I slightly melt the tops with my heat gun (three- four at a time) before pouring. Its a bit more work, but they turn out nicer.

Doesn't work well for multi layered votives though, just for the tops.
