Overpour ? For Chunk Candles

Hi all, I hope someone can help with a couple of questions.

1) How do you calculate the amount of wax you are going to need for the overpour when making a chunk candle?

2) As I am using straight paraffin and not adding any stearin into the overpour wax, can I use vybar or UA so I can add a good % FO load to the wax?

Yes, you can use vybar or UA.

As for the amount of wax, I always have some left over. I make plenty and expect the leftover because I've never figured out a way to measure it. The size of your chunks will make a big difference. Smaller ones will fit closer together, using more chunks and less space for the over pour.

I usually make little chunky votives to match with the leftovers

How 'bout weighing the chunks and from that weight up to the max the mold will hold would be the amt needed for overpour..not that I've tried it though.
