16 oz in a pound / 8 oz in one cup ..........soooooooooo the answer is two....

TWO CUPS

'Fraid not. You're mixing up weight (1 lb) and volume (8 fluid ounces in a cup).

I don't think there's an accurate way to answer this question. The consistency of soy flakes varies a lot. They can be big or pretty fine and it will affect the weight of a cupfull a lot. If you want 1 lb of soy flakes you should just weigh them on a scale.

Thanks, Top...you are correct. I always measure my soy flakes on a scale and use a plastic "one cup" container to scoup them out of the bag. Seems that my measuring cup comes close...but I don't depend on the measuring cup, I depend on the scale. When it comes down to ounces, I'm plucking out (or adding in) pinches (literally flake by flake) of flakes just to get an accurate measurement. So, no cups here...and I apologize for my brain fart.
