New slab mold and first soap in new mold

Ok, I have been making soap for 4 years and never had a slab mold, I have always used a 3 loaf mold, I have been dying to try one so Hubby made me one. A big sucker a that, it holds 12 LBS. so now I can make double batches. The soap end of my business has been picking up and I find I am out of soap sometimes as soon as it cures and it is not even big time show season for me yet. He also made me a six loaf mold so I can make double of both.

This is Coconut Lime, one I always make but a new look for the bar. Colored with Aqua and swirled w/plain soap.

Will post pic of cut soap tomorrow.

I usually pour thick as to get a textured top

Oh, gosh, I've been wanting a slab mold too! Congrats on getting one! I've only done log molds (except during my first year soaping when I used pencil boxes, lol).

I just love that smooth & creamy color combo you've got going there. Looks like it's a perfect match for the scent, which sounds really great. Excellent job!

I could not edit the first post, probably a way but I have not posted much lately so can't remember how.

Here is the soap cut, not cleaned up. For those using slab molds, how do you usually cut yours, how big of bars, should I have hubby put slits on sides for cutting? That is what he did on the loaf molds. Also, how do you make sure your soap is level? It is hard to gauge in this big of mold.

He is going to build another but I think I am going to have him make it a tad shorter so my bars are a little thicker. I used the calculations for mold size but think the soap is thinner than I want

Anyways, thanks for looking!

Edit feature has been disabled.

Great looking soap, btw. I am just getting started and I am in the supplies gathering phase at the moment. I hope to be able to make a bar that looks half as good as yours!
