KristinesShower
I am currently making 100% soy candles. My first question is that I just got some beeswax that I want to add to my soy for a more smooth candle & face it, I want the beeswax on the label lol Will this be a 1:1 ratio or is it different than that? Can I use the same wick as I have been using on my 100% soy or do I have to go smaller since I am using the beeswax too? For those of you using the beeswax, do you find that the wicks you use are smaller than the ones you normally use with soy?Um...ok - so that is 3 questions lol :rolleyes2
Carol M
I can't help you with the wicking question, since I've not done straight soy. I do know, however, that any over 3% bw added can cause the candle to crack, so start low and gradually work up.
Kaybee23
I add beeswax to my soy at about 3-4% per lb. Much more than that and you will get cracking. That will help with the smooth tops. I did not have to wick up on my candles, using the beeswax in them. They burned fine with the same wicks, with or without the beeswax. As a sidenote: In the future, if you post any questions about soy or beeswax in the Veggie Wax section, you may get a more responses.
