pacificflames
I'm hoping that someone can help me with my mystery. First of all I'm happy that I finally found the right wicks for my 2 different jar sizes. I'm using the 5oz and 9oz bulb jars and GB 415. I tried in both sizes the CD 12 and DC 14 and double wicked the big jars. In the big jars the CD 12 is pretty perfect, nice mp, no buildup, the CD 14 has a too deep mp. But in the small jars it's with all 4 jars the other way around. The CD 14 has less of a mp than the CD12 and I don't think I labeled them wrong since all four are like this. Does anyone know the reason behind this. Also it's like this every time, I'm burning them right now for the 3rd time @ 4 hours each. So it seems the CD 14 are the better wicks for that jar but I just can't figure out why. Thanks for your input!
creeksidecandles
May I suggest you check out Wicks Unlimited web site.. http://www.wicksunlimited.com, and check out the tech info they have there. It may just answer your wick questions? Just my
topofmurrayhill
I can throw a few ideas out.If both wicks are burning normally, then the CD 14 should have a larger flame and be melting more wax. In that case I guess the only explanation might be that the CD 14 has a higher rate of wax consumption. If either of the sizes is clogging and/or mushrooming, then the melt pools might be different in some way you don't expect. For instance I think I've noticed that mushrooming wicks can melt more wax.
