Bondgirl
Hi all!I have saved every one of my son's pairs of jeans (he's 7) since he was a baby...mostly because the only part that ever gets worn is the knees, and he refuses to wear a patched pair. He says that the patches feel weird to him. Anyway, I cut up all of the jeans into squares and want to make a quilt out of them, but haven't the faintest idea of how to go about this. Does anyone know where I can find some good instructions? Thanks so much for any help!

If you don't stop with the great links I'm going to be reduced to digging out my old sewing machine. My house is overloaded with oils, colors, scents, mp, containers, wax, beads, paint, yarn, paper, etc. If I ever got organized I might be a real whizz-bang! :spit:

gloworm
Jeans make great throw rugs too if you have access to a rug loom. I have an old antique one and made a 6 foot throw rug from jeans. I'll be long gone before that rug wears out.Glo

Not to mention the file cabinets of fabric ( used to work as a clerk in craft store-whoa bad business:grin2: )Glo

I have 2 looms one for rugs and one for finer items like dishtowels, scarfs etc. Woven placements out of jeans are cute too and they wash really well. Don't ya just hate warping a loom glo I know I doThanks for the links texasbrat

I bought it from an old fellow, well over 80 and he had it all done for me with loads of the warp already on it. I haven't used it all yet. I'm a here there everywhere crafter. I have so many irons in the fire. I probably will leave the world with 50 projects to complete. I have a huge pile of jeans to cut into strips for rugs. I need 3 clones!!Glo
firstlady
Your son will love it, i made one for my son when he was in high school, he still has it these 7 years later and still proudly displays it on the foot of his bed, at his home. any time his friends came by the house, they would be shown his quilt. i took a bunch of his jeans that he no longer wore , that had holes in some place or the bottom was raggy. cut the tops off a longer enough to get pockets, with about 3 inches below them. cut them up the side seams so i could use front and back, the back had the brand name on them, so that looked good. laid them down on bed and fitted to gather like a jig-saw puzzle some over lapping a tad because i turned them this way and that way, not straight. then hand stitched them down around the edges by taking blanket stitches in a big size. then i used the legs to go around for the border , he's tall so this was easy..lol lined other side in dark blue flannel. Michi
My MIL made a jean quilt for my son a couple of years ago, and this is our most treasured possession! It has flannel on the backside, and I swear this thing is the warmest "blanket" in the house, everyone wants to use it when it's cold! LOLIt washes up so easily too, never looks worn out etc. It's just awesome!!Quilting is something I've always wanted to try, but like Glo I do so many other crafts I'm gonna die and leave a lot of half finished crap for my family to wonder what to do with!
