potassium hydroxide

You need to find a chemical supplier in your area. Just look in the phone book. They are around, you just have to look. I get my lye (both sodium and potassium hydroxide) at a local chemical supplier and they are way cheaper than you can get anywhere else (including most online places). The only word of advice doing it that way is to make sure you tell them that you are a SOAP maker. Sometimes they will even require a tax ID or a business license. But I cannot recommend that method more.
