racooper
The other day I was making some candles. I have a digital scale for figuring out weight of FO/Wax etc...Well I poured the FO in a plastic container. Next day the plastic container was broken. Cracked all over the place. Got any ideas what caused this? Just curious. I will use glass in the future
judyvega
FO is known to eat through plastic (and damage wood, etc.) - always best to use glass as you say you are from now on
mountainmadness
Although I have never had it happen, it sounds like the FO ate your plastic container. When I measure my FO I use a glass pyrex. Jennifer
racooper
Yeah, I will use glass from now on. I had never read about that, and thought it strange. Figured I would ask the experts here on candletech;)
Scented
Yeah I read too much about FO eating through things that I only use glass. I think I tried it once in a paper cup and won't do it again, even though it was there for like maybe 20 seconds.
Erin Lea
I weigh my FO in a dixie cup, but it's only in there for 1-2 mins. max. I tried thick plastic cups once, put the lemon verbena oil on top of a closed jar of leather aroma beads....well, lets just say I had a bizarre lemony-leather mixture of beads. :embarasse (the FO leaked in the jar even though it was closed!) firstlady
FO , eats up plastic, i found this out the hard way, i had poured my fo right into the little tray on my small scale ( since then have gotten a bigger & better one) well i got a shock... it had eaten places in my tray ...lol now i use a votive cup , i only make 1 lb batch at a time so this works perfect for me. classylady71118
Walmart sells a glass measure for up to 5 oz which is great for small orders, it's on the isle with all the kitchen gadgets. I keep two of them plus a large glass measure I bought at the Libby Glass factory here.Beverly
