ignitethesenses
How do you go about listing ingredients when one of your ingredients has several itself?....like a preservative...
RobinInOR
You have to list them all - do it together just like the names you were given and put (and) between them (though I have seen it without the (and).)For example:Liquid Germall Plus is Propylene Glycol (and) Diazolidinyl Urea (and) Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate

jazzbo848
i list the ingredients as listed on the product....when it is a preservative, i list them last, as that is usually the smallest per centage of the recipe.....cheryl
Blest2BAmerican
What's the rule on listing lye? Do you list it or not?
RobinInOR
If you are listing ingredients for soap, and are including everything you put into it, it should be "sodium hydroxide"
ignitethesenses
If its just plain soap with no claims (beautifying, etc), then from what I understand, it doesn't need ingredients listed. And if thats true, if you didn't want to list lye but wanted to list oils, "soponified oils of..." would suffice. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. You're partially correct - you don't have to label soap, but if you choose to label it, you MUST list ALL the ingredients. It's all or none with soap. Listing saponified oils of is not correct unless you list all the oils again normally, unless you superfat at 0%, as they are all not saponified. Then you have to figure out which ones saponified more and put that in descending order.
ignitethesenses
good to know I figured that since soap didn't NEED to be labeled, that any labeling would be for product appeal and at the discretion of the labeler....thanks for clarifying..I hate to give out bad advice lol
