katie Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 Just doing my research on what to get to dabble in some soap making. I think I will start with MP.So here is my stupid question. How many bars of soap can one make with a pound of soap? Say your mold is 5 oz. ( just picked a number). Thanks for any replies.I haven't bought any products yet that is way I am asking to see how much I should start with as I will testing and wanting to be able to gift some of it.I think I figured it out, thanks for viewing anyway. Jcandleattic Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 Well, since a lb is 16oz, and you are asking about 5oz soaps, then you should be able to get 3 soaps with an oz left over. (of course that's weight and not volume, as volume will be different, and most peeps when dealing with soaping deal with mainly weight since the majority of everything is weighed out for accuracy) Quote
Crafty1_AJ Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 I liked doing 4 oz. bars with a pound of M&P; that way it used up the whole pound for 4 average sized bars. This is assuming you don't add a lot of stuff to your base other than a few drops of color, natch! Quote
