funnygirl
Okay, Im looking at some molds while I wait on some CP supplies. Im looking at the Misty Creek 16 bar basic mold, which comes with the mold, the cutter and 1 divider. Seems pretty good, except it doesnt come with a lid. Hmmm....I dont know if I need a lid or not, LOL! Can some of you experts let me know? Thanks!
CareBear
Any board will do. I use a wooden cutting board. Lately I've been warming the mold in a 170 oven, then filling and then sticking back in - no lid required.Alternatively after filling the warm mold I put the "lid" on and insulate well...I love my Misty Creek. Kaybee23
I don't use a lid....just stick it in the oven until it has gelled, then I take it out and sit it on the stove. A few times I have covered it, but it just seemed to overheat it.
funnygirl
So the lid or insulating is only needed until the soap has gelled all the way, right? After that it can be just set out in the open to finish up?
eugenia
I don't use a lid either. I put hard plastic placemats over the top, then wrap in a towel and blanket. I leave it alone for 24 hours, then cut. The placements simply keep the towel away from the soap surface. You could use anything that is larger than the mold.
