Katcameback
I am attempting to make a 6x6 3 wick and was wondering if anyone had any hints or suggestions on what I should do. I made it once, and didn't like it, so I melted it down and am trying again. This time I heated the mold a bit and instead of using the wick pins, I just tied the wicks. Are there any tricks or tips to making 3 wicks?
TwinMom
make sure your wax is at the right temp for the second pour or you will be able to see the line...I learned that the first time i made one....
grama
I am also trying to "perfect" a 3 wick pillar about your same size. I think the biggest problem I am having right now are the druded little pin sized holes that I am thinking are due from splatters that occur as you are pouring. With a mold that big it is hard to keep it from splattering and that is exactly what the little holes look like. I tried wicking it with a hemp 60048 wick. I use IGI 4625 pillar wax. Think the wick might work, the next one I will try is a zinc 60. If anyone has ideas I would appreciate it also. So-----sorry, I can't be much help. :undecided
Katcameback
The second one I made turned out awesome! I heated the mold in the oven at about 180*F, and I poured the wax at about 180*F. This time I didn't use the wick pins, but I did have a bit of seepage of wax from where I had the wicks in the holes, I gues the clay I was using wasn't good enough, lol. So I just kept topping it up with the wax from the pour pot. I know, not a good idea, but it worked, lol.
