wick pins question...

a while a go i wanted to know what company would be good to start to learn how to make candles. they sent me to peak for a starter kit however, someone told me to look into getting some wick pins. what do they do and what size would i need i want to get the pillar kit and the mold is 3 x 6.5 inches.

I am not sure of the size. When I ordered my votives there were votive pins and pilla pins, no specific sizes.

You put the wick pin in the mold before you pour your wax. It keeps a hole through the candle so you can just insert the wick after you demold

For the 3x6.5 mold your wick pin needs to be at least 8 inches. I'm not sure what lengths they have them in but it needs to be long enough to extend out of your mold. HTH

Peaks has this size, and one smaller and another that's larger. These you put a little mold sealer on and press into place. Helps seal off the wick pin and prevents against a leaking mold. You can find them under candle accessories, I believe, on the website.
