Kaybee23
How do you get CP soap smooth and shiney on the top? Does it come from giving the soaps a shower after curing? I ask because I received a bar several months ago that was smooth and shiney on the top and wondered how it got that way. Anyone know or have an idea, I would like to try it out....mine are never shiney smooth on the top.
eugenia
I use a spray bottle full of alcohol, give them a quick spritz annd then polish. It's makes a HUGE difference.e
Scent Cellar
They probably give it a quick buffing & a water rinse before they package the soap. It really does make a difference if you have the time to do so.
NNK
Even a damp cloth will do the job. I polish my bars just couple days after cutting/beveling. it takes a lot less time if the soap is new.
Kaybee23
If I could ask, what do you polish with after the alcohol. I use alcohol right now, but obviously not using the right type of thing to polish it with. Thanks everyone for your input.
thecandlespastore
I have a soap polishing cloth, but any old washcloth will do. I polish mine with a little oil on a washcloth. Forgot to add that I do it on the same day I cut and bevel, not after the cure.

Kymber
Kaybee, I am glad you asked this question! I have been giving mine a borax bath but not real happy with that as it was leaving lines on the soap from the drying rack. It helped shine them up I but didn't like the lines. Thanks everyone who have shared their tips!
Kaybee23
Thanks everyone, I will be giving that a try on my next batch.
eugenia
Kaybee, I am glad you asked this question! I have been giving mine a borax bath but not real happy with that as it was leaving lines on the soap from the drying rack.I put mine on the rack to cure and bevel and polish right before packaging. You might be bathing them too soon, hence the lines. It's NEVER too late to bevel and polish.HTH,e

Kaybee23
I would like to add, the soap I got is not beveled on top, it is fresh out of the mold by all appearances, but rock hard and smooth and shiney on the top.
