Guest EMercier
I bought 2 lbs of unrefined Shea from the classifieds. I wanted to just test a small batch to see if I can make it instead of a big batch and waste what little I'm starting with. I have two different receipes I've gotten from here. I have Kimberly's Whipped Shea and on that EB Candles posted. I'm better at guaging candle products. Any suggestions on how to cut it down to a small amount? Maybe 1/2 LB of shea and 2 oz. oil and 1/2-1 tsp of cornstarch. Also has anyone tried soybean oil in their shea. I know I'm asking lots of questions, but I'm excited to make this. I've always bought mine from Avon and it worked good, but I want to really get into serious bath and body. Thanks in advance.
TexasBrat
I made some just yesterday as a test batch too. I used 2oz of shea and .2 of shea oil and whipped away. Don't heat it up, just start beating it, mine came out great. hth:cheesy2:
Guest EMercier
What do you use? A hand-held mixer?
MichelleOH
Yes use a mixer:wink2:
TexasBrat
Yup, a regular mixer, I used only one beater for whipping.
sudsnwicks
1/2 lb of shea is quite a lot to test in case it doesn't work out. Try 4 oz or even 2 oz (what TexasBrat suggested).
Guest EMercier
Thank you all. One more question, has anyone used Soybean Oil? Or is this not a light oil?
TexasBrat
I have not used soybean, I have some, but I don't see why it would be bad? I think you can use most light oils with it. I just happen to have shea oil but I might try others like emu and kukui nut oil.
