evilsprig
I am making pillars in a 2 3/4 diameter spiral octagon mold with IGI 1218. I use 24-ply flat braid, and this is giving me a much "livlier" flame than I am comfortable with. The flame is quite high, and jumps around a lot. I am just not sure where to wick down from the 24 ply. Any suggestions? TIA!
Aspencreek
In all of my 2 inch pillars I use an 18 ply. It works great and I don't have any problems, get a clean burn all of the way down.
evilsprig
Thanks. Now for a stupid question-where do you find the 18-ply? Every palce seems to have the 24-ply as the smallest.

topofmurrayhill
If you want to split the difference you can also get 21 ply from Candlewic or http://www.onestopcandle.com/.
