lindsaycb
I've actually made some of these last year when they were started out on Ebay. You can do them with almost anything too. Modge podge your jar up and roll in spices...modge podge again to get them good & solid....little glossy, but it holds all the spices in place too. This is big on cans too. Sometime take a look on ebay using keywords of primitive candles...or dirty candles. Even old food cans this works on very well. Add a twist to the concept by using an old primitive picture modge podged on the jar, then spice/grubby around the picture. It becomes a dirty luminary then.Lots of fun if you're into the primitive market!Think about glitter/mica for a snowflake jar! There's a lot of twists on this concept. Its one that a lot of people just aren't aware of as being sold out there. I doubt we'll ever see them at Walmart.
grammafransfixins
Thanks,Yup.. Lindsaycb... your on the money.. LOLI have a line on my site that my friend makes.. they are called Life Candles. They are food cans, with candles, then the outside grubbied and a picture added. They are in Country Sampler this month. I love them!!
gingerinarkansas
I've noticed on ebay you can buy the "recipes" on doing "dirty" candles and primitive things. Is it something you could find on the net or is it worth purchasing the "recipe" if you're interested in learning how to do it? I love to try it. gingerinarkansas
Do you coat your jars before or after you pour the candle? Ginger
grammafransfixins
Do you coat your jars before or after you pour the candle? GingerWhat do you mean? Are you talking about when I grubby the jars? I do it before. Not sure if that was the question.. LOL
