Brandyanne Posted August 12, 2006 Posted August 12, 2006 I am going to try making melt & Pour soap- I have seen some great recipes on here but many of them just say add F/O -any idea how much is a good starting point? Quote
Darwin Posted August 12, 2006 Posted August 12, 2006 1 tablespoon of FO per pound of MP base or 1 teaspoon of EO per pound of MP base. You can add butters and oils to your base. I alsmost always add 1 tablespoon of castor oil to 1 pound of base. It makes the lather creamier. Quote
Brandyanne Posted August 12, 2006 Author Posted August 12, 2006 Thank you and thanks for the tip about the caster oil! Quote
sockmonkey Posted August 12, 2006 Posted August 12, 2006 I guess it can vary from supplier to supplier on how much FO they recommend. Some are stronger than others. I generally add 3% FO to my m&p. Quote
Brandyanne Posted August 12, 2006 Author Posted August 12, 2006 Thanks- I think I should brush up on my math skills before I do this- but I can't wait to try this! Quote
CareBear Posted August 13, 2006 Posted August 13, 2006 VERY generally, 1 tsp weighs about 5 grams, and 1 TBSP weighs 15 grams. Probably close enough as long as you aren't working with preservatives or lye.3% of a pound is 13.6 grams, or about half an ounce. Quote
