MsDammit
I came across a recipe for body cream that called for .3 grams of citric acid, and was just wondering why?
Purple Lilac
It is somewhat of a natural preservative ( there is some controversy on this) and also a ph balancer.
CareBear
I tried a formula from another forum that called for apple cider vinegar which is supposed to be good for your skin. People who didn't like the vinegar smell used citric acid instead.A slight shift in pH can help increase the effectiveness of some ingredients as well.Depending on the total % of acid in your product it could act as a preservative, but it would have to be pretty high for that IMHO. (as PL said, controversy on this).Probably more there to balance the pH.
