They are very different in soaps - I suggest you go to soapcalc.com and look at what the different qualities are. In short, palm contributes to creamy lather and is conditioning while palm kernel oil is cleansing and contributes hardness and bubbly lather (like coconut oil). But pko and pk flakes ARE the same thing. Sowwy I misunderstood. I was WAY tired when I read the question. Good thing I've had some sleep this time.
