dixiegal
can anyone tell me where I might find a recipe, Iv already searched on many boards with no luck. TIA
jwahlton
No recipe, just use beer in place of your water. Make sure the beer is COMPLETELY flat or you'll have a volcano when you add the lye. Ask me how I know that :rolleyes2
Meridith
Julia, what difference, if any, do you notice with your soap made with beer? I would imagine that the smell of the beer and lye is not very pleasant? LOLSorry to hijack.
foxhill
I was wondering the same thing Meridith. My hubby brews beer and would love beer soap, but I'm not sure what the benefit would be.
lindsaycb
I love beer soap! I forgot completely about it! I like to do it with a cedarwood & lime fragrance. Call is Lime Ale or something like that. You really don't get any beer fo from it though.I let my beer sit out for a few days in the fridge. Then mix lye solution up.
jwahlton
I've made it a couple of times, more for label appeal. The beer smell doesn't come thru in the soap, but yes the beer/lye sure does stink:D
dixiegal
Thanks everyone, anyone make this and not add fo, I was hoping for more of a malted/grain kind of scent from it.
CareBear
Ask me how I know that :rolleyes2 Julia, seems I see that statement a lot in your posts - attached to things we definately shouldn't do.Do you have good health & home insurances? CareBear
Thanks everyone, anyone make this and not add fo, I was hoping for more of a malted/grain kind of scent from it.I wonder if you can add powdered hops? Or hops extract of some sort. Wonder if there is a benefit that hops can give (in theory anyway).
pamperme
? Question ? Would it be a good idea to 'smell' like beer..what if you get pulled over by the cops..what they gonna think? ummm..and at work?hmmmmm..now ya got me thinking what about wine? we have a wine making store here..maybe I could market some B&B to them..private labeld..with a few different wine scents. ...darn ya all got my wheels turning. CareBear
Some of the wineries I've toured have wine-scented soaps (glycerine ones, that look wine colored). Haven't seen anyting else tho.
Meridith
I have made Merlot (GL) scented bath bombs and the scent was wonderful. It really makes a nice B&B fragrance. Who knew? I plan to soap this scent soon too. I am waiting for my lye to get here.
