this is the number one reason why i haven't made soaps yet. the weighing of ingredients scares the livin daylights out of me. In australia we don't work in ounces and pounds (strange it's the only way i can work out how heavy a baby is though.. oh go figure). So i'm trying to convert a recipe i have to metric.

Will this work??

8oz = 48 teaspoons

16oz = 96 teaspoons

4.5oz = 27 teaspoons

9oz = 54 teaspoons

I know that a teaspoon is 5mls so if for 8 oz i work on

48(teaspoons)x5(mls) = 240mls

Would this work. Also how exactly do i weigh it. do i melt ingredients and pour say 240mls lard into a container or does it have to be weighed on scales...

I think i already know the answer to this one it will be the scales, just because i don't have any yet...lol

Hang on i'll go check it out again, I don't have any scales that's the problem i'm having. I can't get the scales i need for it around here. I'll go work out the grams on it.

For soap it will have to be weighed. Your conversion works only for water. For other ingredients 1 oz does not necessarily equal 6 teaspoons. It will be close but not accurate enough for making soap.
