Fern-Marie Posted May 10, 2006 Posted May 10, 2006 I just made my first batch of lip balm.I am having some serious doubts. I made just 4 ounces to test and get an idea of how this would work. I am adding just a couple of drops at a time to this and each couple of drops I taste, and I can't taste anything.I got up to 16 drops, and I still can't taste anything. My lips are burning, but that could be from wiping off each taste test. Also, the balm is very hard....I don't know what I'm doing here, someone please help me!I used Strawberry Flavor from The Chemistry Store.Thanks,Fern-Marie Quote
Crafty1_AJ Posted May 10, 2006 Posted May 10, 2006 See this thread. http://www.candletech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=22895If your balm is too hard, I'd decrease the amount of wax and hard/brittle oils, and adjust upward the amount of liquid oils.I use flavoring by weight, not drops, so I can't help you there. I do 1/8 oz. of flavor for every 2 oz. balm. HTH Quote
sawyer's moon Posted May 10, 2006 Posted May 10, 2006 When I do a test batch of lip balm - I only do 1oz at a time which fills about 5 tubes for me.Anyway - I typically do 2% flavor which is roughly 1 ml per oz of base (if you use pippettes for your flavoring) and adjust from there.Look at the guidelines at MMS for lip balms...works pretty well for me.Jen Quote
